When you hear the term “girl boss” what do you think of? For me, a ‘girl boss’ is an empowered female who is motivated, sets goals for herself, and works hard to crush them - no matter what obstacles get in her way.
When I met Hadiatou Wann, that’s exactly how I felt. Between being a Brand Ambassador for Signature Scents by Hand AND just releasing her first book, “Magnetic Bond: The Love Every Woman Deserves” hit Amazon on February 14th. Hadiatou’s love for writing began when she was a teenager and since then has used writing as a platform to voice her opinion.
Like many of us, Hadiatou has overcome many obstacles in her life. One of the hardest was finding her way out of a toxic relationship. In her book, she opens up about this process and how by leaving the bad behind helped her to find the true love of her life.
I was lucky enough to meet Hadiatou one rainy Sunday afternoon at a Starbucks where I was able to get to know her a little bit more. Check out our interview here:
Jessica Baeza | Let’s dive right in and talk about Signature Scents By Hand. You’re a Brand Ambassador which is awesome! I know one of our scents, “Yours” is a favorite of yours. How does it make you feel when wearing it?
Hadiatou Wann | I naturally have sensitive skin, so when I found out that I can actually make my own perfume, that’s Vegan-friendly, I thought it was such a great idea! Honestly, I never really thought of Vegan-friendly fragrances. Trying it was amazing and it smells so good! And when I wear it, I feel alive and sexy. It also lasts a long time compared to other fragrances.
JB | You mentioned that you were able to create your own custom scent, can you tell us a little more about that?
HW | The whole process was really simple! I was given a list of scents and from that, I was able to pick which ones I felt would work best for me. It’s great because this scent is unique to my own personality. To finish it off, I was able to pick my own bottle which I thought was pretty cool.

JB | What inspired you to become a Brand Ambassador?
HW | Kabrea actually reached out to me and said she really liked my vibe. I do love to represent a brand that has a good cause, and I also love women empowerment! And also - FRAGRANCE! I thought, ‘why not?” It’s something that women just naturally enjoy.
JB | Where does your creativity come from when you're promoting the brand?
HW | I try to create posts that are unique but that are also a reflection of me. Because I am a Brand Ambassador, people are more attracted to posts that are honest and real. It’s not just about the product, it has to reflect me as well.
JB | Let’s talk about your book. It’s Called “Magnetic Bond: The Love Every Woman Deserves” It talks about getting out of a toxic relationship and finding the love that you deserve. I think so many women are going to relate to this HARD. Where did the idea come from to write about that? Was it from a personal experience?
HW | You are going to be blown away if you read this book! I have had a lot of failed experiences with relationships. My last relationship was terrible. But after that, I found the true love of my life. And that’s when I thought, “ok this isn’t that bad.” But when you’re with the wrong person, everything just feels wrong. And when you do meet that right person, they will make you feel amazing. I wanted to share with everyone my experience that way they can learn from my mistakes.
JB | Has writing always been a passion for you?
HW | Yes, I have always loved writing. I’m always working on my writing too. Every day I try to do something to help me improve. I want to get comfortable and just better myself. You can really change the world with words.
JB | Who are some other women who have inspired you along the way?
HW | Definitely my mother. My mom is my number one motivator. She is so strong and I look up to her. She is very independent and that is the type of person that I want to be.
JB | In your book, you also talk about loving yourself first before you can love anyone else. Do you feel that having the right scent can help you boost your confidence?
HW | I definitely think that if you have a scent that is unique to you, that you can exude more self-confidence. When you’re out there looking for a potential partner, it’s all about being unique.
JB | Do you think this book will help others to find that love that they deserve?
HW | I think the number 1 reason as to why so many of us are unable to find true love, is because we are afraid to let go of that wrong person. The only reason why I found the real love of my life now, is because I finally let go of that man who was not good for me. You need to pay attention to the signs. The longer you’re with someone, the harder it’s going to be to leave them.
