5 Signs Your Relationship May Be On Its Way Out

All relationships go through tough times. So don’t sit here and think, “Ok, we got into it this morning… are we doomed?!” NO! Disagreeing and butting heads is part of being in a relationship. And to be honest, if it were smooth sailing 24/7, then I would be worried! However, if the same issues are constantly being brought to the surface, and there have been zero improvements, then it may be time to say goodbye for good. **Cue the sad movies and ice cream**

There are many signs that will let you know whether or not your relationship is thriving or declining. If you are unsure of these signs, I’ll lay them right out for you now.

You Would Rather Be Alone

This right here should be a huge red flag. When you're in a relationship, the last thing you want to hear is your significant other would rather be alone than be with you. Obviously, it’s normal to want some time alone to spend with friends. But when you start craving “me time” and never want your SO around, it’s clear that you’re just unhappy.

You NEVER Go Out Together

My husband and I are both on totally different work schedules. He works overnights and I work all day long, so for us, it’s hard to find the time to devote to going out even if it’s just for dinner. But we still make it a point to have those date nights whenever we have the time. Even when you live together, or start a family together, you should never stop going out on dates. When you find yourself out with your friends more than your SO, that’s an issue.

You Stop Having Sex **cringe**

Ugh - Remember when you first met and you couldn't keep your hands off of each other? It was butterfly central and the hormones were going crazy! Now, you may not even be able to stand the sight of one another. This is a sure sign that things may be dying down and time to part ways. Instead of jumping straight to cutting things off, try to spice things up a bit. Try a new sex position, or maybe even bring some toys into the bedroom. If you’re both still not eager to jump into the bed and rip each other's clothes off, then maybe it’s time to be ‘just friends.’

There is ZERO Communication

I’m sure you have already heard that communication is key in any relationship. Any lack thereof can be a sign that the relationship is dying out. Failing to communicate will leave a big void in your relationship and cause major problems that will spiral out into unnecessary issues. Try making it a point to meet for lunch at a restaurant with no distractions and let the conversations just flow. If this simple exercise proves to be difficult then it’s pretty apparent that you both just simply don’t care anymore.

Picking Fights For No Reason

Like I said before, disagreeing every so often is totally normal and healthy in a relationship. Starting an argument every day though is something totally different. To me, picking fights for no reason is just a way to cause animosity, and then once the fight is over you’ll go to your separate corners and not speak to each other for the rest of the day. This is not a way to spend your life.

Ladies, (and gents), life is way too short to be in any relationship that is causing unhappiness 24/7. Take the time to work on your issues before just throwing everything away. Every relationship goes through a rough patch, especially if you’ve been together for quite some time. There will always come a time where tensions will run high, and it’s been said that you will take out your frustrations on the ones you love the most (nice, right.) But when does it become too much? That’s the part you need to figure out. If you are upset/sad/angry more than you are happy/ elated / and feeling in love, then it’s time to pack up and move on.
